TV/FILM PRODUCTIONS IN 2010
Just a quick news item to remind everyone that the filming of Tracy Beaker Returns Series II starts in July 2010; therefore, please update your details. If your details are more than 12 months out of date then it is unlikely that you will be chosen as an extra/supporting artist.
2009 was a very poor year for TV and film productions in the Northeast, however, it is hoped that 2010 will be a more fruitfull year with the new TV series Vera aswell as Tracy Beaker plus the possibility of a film. Needless to say we will continue to endeavour to find places for our members in these and other productions.
A special mention must be made about Northern Film & Media who invested in the pilot episode of Vera and has done so much to bring TV & Film production back to the Northeast.
TRACER BEAKER RETURNS
Extraspecials were in the forefront of the opening episode of a new BBC TV Series Tracy Beaker Returns. The series is due to be screened later this year.

Equity continues to fight to change the law on upfront fees by agencies.
DISAPPOINTING WINTER
It has been disappointingly quiet during the Winter period due to recession. TV series such as "Wire in the Blood" and "Revenge Files of Alister Fury" have been cancelled due to TV companies making cutbacks. In addition, it seems that more and more UK TV companies appear to be filming outside the UK. The only work we have seen over winter, especially in the Northeast, has been TV adverts, Photographic work and low budget films. It is hoped that with the Spring things will improve as a new TV series is in the planning stage and there is a possibility of a major film. In the meantime, we will endeavour to press forward and find more work.EXTRASPECIALS PHOTOGRAPHS & UPDATES
Recently we have had a number of projects where our extraspecials have lost work because of poor photographs on their web page and/or insufficient details. It is in our member's interest to ensure that they upload a clear head photo that has been taken recently and, if possible, a semi full or full length photo which gives our clients an idea of the extra/model's build. In addition, they must ensure that they put in their full details and keep them up to date at least once per year. If members have problems with uploading photos or updating their web page then please contact us on action@extraspecials.tv.NEW LAW ON UPFRONT FEES
On 6 April 2008 a new law came into operation which prevents agents and publishing services from taking money at casting sessions. The following link gives Equity's comments to this new law: http://www.equity.org.uk/article.aspx?id=63%20&%20http://www.anactor.net . Extraspecials have never charged upfront fees and fully supports Equity's fight to end this unfair practice.
